RESEARCH

The library and archives of the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum holds books and periodicals related to the history of pharmacy and medicine, as well as prescription files, pharmacists' recipe books, individual prescriptions, patent medicines advertisements, ephemera, posters and photographs. A substantial part of our collection is from New Orleans or elsewhere in Louisiana and dates from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The reading room is open by appointment only.

Books, periodicals, prescription files, pharmacists' recipe books, and paper items such as ephemera, posters, trade cards and advertisements are currently searchable in our online catalog. Links to digitized copies of items have been included as much as possible.

Please contact us if you are searching for photographs, personal prescriptions, or objects that are not searchable at this time.
